Aprarently Conan was real, and we're all a bunch of pansies.

Came across this anthropology article the other day, and it made me realize how much sitting on my fat lazy ass typing on Blogs and Boards has made me a girly-man.  Check it out....

  1. Funny. Reading this, when you take into account how modern-day historical combat re-inactors have proven that you can have mobility and speed and endurance even while wearing plate armors, and these modern-day re-inactors are probably half as hearty as the men who were wearing these armors centuries ago, while I'm sure fighting in such armors was difficult, it probably was nowhere as difficult as we all consider it.

And yeah, Romans. Well fed on a low-fat, high-protein diet, extremely well trained and well led and well equipped, doing most of their travel on foot and carrying the bulk of their gear on their own backs, building a fortified camp at the end of every day...and these guys were professionals who did this for a good chunk of their lives.

Those guys had to have been nothing but whalebone and sinew. Hard-effing-core.
