There must be a quote somewhere about how something so bad becomes indistinguishable from parody.

Wildspace is part of Spelljammer. It's been long enough I'm not 100% but I think it was what the area between planets (i.e. space) was called.

Google to the rescue "Spelljammer Wildspace"

Wildspace is part of Spelljammer.

In Spelljammer "wildspace" is the area within the crystal spheres that host star systems.

This "Wildspace" trailer is for a Spelljammer-based video game that TSR never made.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Spelljammer and this video are really cool. I wish I could just jump into this video and have a radical adventure!

I've always imagined that my PCs would have glam metal early 90s hair like that dude.

@cyc - Well, since I've played in the Spelljammer universe with you, I'll have to trust you on this, grab my parachute, and jump into the video with you. :)

By parachute, you mean parachute pants? :)

There was a Spelljammer PC game out in 1992, but it didn't look like this. My guess is -- if the footage here is indicative of the game -- that it was supposed to be something for the Mega-CD, CDi, or a higher-end CD-ROM PC. Something like Night Trap or Sewer Shark, and likely just as awful.

Spend a few dollars and hire some better actors maybe!?! I remember the launch of Spelljammer and recognize wildspace as part of the setting, but thankfully I didn't have that trailer etched into my memory during my formative years.

@Joe - How did you know that is what I packed the parachute with?

Yeah, as a professionally produced film it's abysmal kitsch.

Just pretend it's a group of gamers goofing around and it's awesome!

I supposed it was demonstration of concept, rather than a final product to be shown to the public.

That ranks up there with the most terrible things ever viewed.

"You've watched it, you can't unwatch it!"

Ver word: pronts - it just needs an "r" at the end to be an accurate description of what I just watched.

I've actually got a fox hat just like the guy "Dethlock" (or whatever he was called).

No, really.

But, Yikes! That thing makes Captain Power look like Masterpiece Theater.

Well, it's the same actors, characters, and style as the DragonStrike boardgame video (also on youtube). I think this was a test for a similar product that never got made, no?

Whoever produced or directed this video needs to be fired--again if need be. Even if they aren't with T$R anymore, send them a letter firing their asses, just on general principle, for the good of all mankind.
